Law Office Sign Re-Brand: Waynesboro , VA

September 23, 2015 By Mark Hackley

IMG_1150New Law Firm Name: Old Office Sign Salvaged

When John Hill reached out to look at costs for updating their office sign, I tried to develop a signage proposal that would retain the existing sandblasted sign and posts, while maintaining a professional look.

Incorporating the new name and logo design and colors onto a ACM sign panel with laminated printed 3M vinyl graphics that fastened to the border of the old sign seemed like a good solution at a moderate investment for the customer.  I cleaned up the existing three-dimensional name plates, repainted the wood posts and steel side iron brackets, and refreshed the top recessed area with address information.

The new sign looks great! Thanks to John and other principals of PoindexterHill for the project. If you have a need for signage at your law office, business, medical office or professional center, contact Augusta Sign Company for advice.

Sign Companies in Verona, VA? Augusta Sign Company Serves That Market!

September 22, 2015 By Mark Hackley

Recent Project at SVOE

svoeWorking with Tim Hebb, owner of SVOE headquartered in Verona, Virginia, Augusta Sign Company provided the graphics for the company’s brand new brick entrance sign leading into the main parking lot.

The logos are all custom-painted 1″ thick acrylic, stud-mounted to the stucco background of the sign, and they make a welcoming greeting to visitors approaching the Augusta County based business. Like most sign companies, I chose GEMINI letters because of their affordable cost and lifetime warranty.

When I previously owned and operated Tree Street Signs of Crimora back in the 1990’s we only had one occasion where a GEMINI letter fell off a wall and was slightly damaged…at a Ford Dealership in Covington, (if I remember correctly). GEMINI replaced it right away at no cost whatsoever!

The exterior signage looks so good, Tim is in the process of contemplating a set of graphics for his interior showroom wall!

If you need custom wall letters, logos, or plaques at your business in Verona, Stuarts Draft, Waynesboro, Staunton, or Fishersville, or anywhere in or around Augusta County, please call me.

New Church Signs for Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waynesboro

September 20, 2015 By Mark Hackley

New Church Signs for Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waynesboro, VA

Church Signage Waynesboro VA As the new minister at Westminster Presbyterian Church set up shop a few weeks ago, new signage designed and manufactured by Augusta Sign Company was being installed outside!

The old sign system was dated, faded, cracked and falling apart. The old signs were removed and replaced with new or refurbished sign panels of consistent elements of design, color and materials. The main sandblasted sign was completely restored with colors of the website branding, two shades of blue, gray, white and maroon.  A changeable panel sign was added to the bottom of the main sign and then replicated on matching carved cedar signs at the church’s main entrances.

Permits were applied for and secured by Augusta Sign Company and all the fabrication and installation was completed over the month of August, 2015. The treated posts were very green when installed, so they will be finished a gray color that matches the other posts in the system once dried. The property committee of the church is working on mulch beds below the signs to add attractiveness and prevent weed-eater damage to the posts as they have experienced in the past.

The complete sign system consisted of restoring and upgrading the main sign, building two new parking lot entrance signs as pictured, restoring five existing small building and directional signs, and adding two new building signs for the sanctuary and chapel entrances.  The new pastor is surveying needs for new interior signage as well. After the signs were completed, I received many positive comments and the new pastor is using the sign design in her programs!  Pretty cool project. I liked the opportunity to help by using my talents to draw community-attention to a Christ-focused organization. The project cost was just over $6,000, with several members donating steel brackets, mulching, and 6 X 6 treated posts.

How much do signs cost in Augusta County, Virginia?

July 23, 2015 By Mark Hackley

How much do signs cost in Augusta County, Virginia or Rockbridge County Virginia?

How Much Do Signs Cost in Waynesboro VA
Sandblasted Redwood Sign recently maintained for the Village of Fairfield, just a few miles south of Augusta County.

It depends. Are you looking for a banner? They can run anywhere from about $2.50 to $10.00 a square foot depending what you want. I once did a series of mural banners for an Augusta County, VA food expo with a Mardis Gras theme that featured full-size pictorials of downtown New Orleans. Those two banners cost thousands of dollars. But I just did a 32 square foot banner for a church that was $240.00 installed.

Maybe you’re in the market for a sand carved redwood sign with gold leaf letters? If that’s the case, it all depends on the design, the type and thickness of material (usually cedar or redwood), the amount of gold leaf, the intricacy of detail, the colors, the overall size, the number of sides, the height above ground, the difficulty in securing a permit, and the list goes on! As you can see pricing signs in Augusta County, VA takes in many factors. We just did 2 sets of repainted redwood signs for a City in Augusta for around $2,500 a set. And they really look great!

If you are wanting a free-standing sign for your store or office, how many posts does it have? What is the material? Is it solid aluminum or some sort of ACM? Are the posts made of steel, extruded aluminum, treated wood, solid cedar? How will it be lit, or isn’t it? Is it one-sided or two? How long do you want it to last? Most sign companies in Waynesboro, VA probably have good-better-best options and therefore a range of prices accordingly.

How much does a sign cost around Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County? Give us a call or e-mail, and we will let you know!!

What Electric Sign Companies Don’t Tell You about Quality Wood Signs

July 11, 2015 By Mark Hackley

Many times if the choice is between erecting an electric sign or wood sign at your business, the leading response would be to go electric, especially if a custom electric sign company is doing the selling.

Considering the lifespan of redwood and cedar signs, the potential for eye-catching designs with gold leaf, neat three dimensional aspects, and spot-lighting, wood signs should not be overlooked. I once sold an electric sign for a restaurant for a little over $10,000. The sign was neat and eye-catching, but a wood sign could have had the same or better effect for less. Here, even in the humid southeast, the finish of a painted wood sign should last ten years, essentially the same as a painted electric sign. And, just as the aluminum and steel components of electric signs last for decades with proper maintenance, a hand-painted wood sign will do the same.

I just got finished restoring more than a dozen signs that I had built in the early 1990’s and they all refurbished well, looking like brand new, and ready to go another 20 years between recoats.

Here are some things you can do with wood signs:

  • V-Carved letters for special lighting effects
  • Incorporate Gold or Silver Leaf into the designs
  • Utilize 3-D Carved pictorial elements
  • Add Multiple Level of Graphics for Shadow Effects
  • Utilize Natural, Transparent Stains in Backgrounds for Environmental Effects
  • Easy to Refresh and Maintain
